CDMX SE PINTA DE VERDE
CDMX GETS PAINTED GREEN
While, in theory, Tren Maya seems like a good idea, it will actually be deforesting 20,000 trees. It will also threaten at least ten protected natural areas, and nearly 1,300 archaeological sites, and affect more than 143,000 Indigenous people. To combat this we plan to place 20,000 rows of trees in the heart of Mexico City using our budget of $100,000 USD. It will begin at Av. Paseo de la Reforma, passing through El Angel de la Independencia and ending near Basilica de Guadalupe. This performance of art will showcase what it feels to have your home disrupted and create consciousness about man-made decisions that affect our environment.

The route we are using covers 17.7 km (11 miles), being 17,700 m. Every 1 meter there will be a row of 4 trees, having 17,700 rows in the route and 2,300 more in the Zocalo. Ends up with 20,000 lines of trees representing the 20,000 trees that are being cut down to create the Tren Maya. the total amount of trees on display will be 80,000, which afterward will be planted in needed areas around Mexico.
